Milkweed Club – a perfect spot for small gatherings

We first heard about Milkweed, near Spring Green WI, from photographing a rehearsal dinner there this summer. We followed a caravan of vehicles along many winding roads and really had no idea what to expect — until we saw the little, wooden, hand-painted sign that read “Milkweed” — which led us past fruit trees, wood piles, hammocks, rope swings, artistic homes, and extremely well maintained gardens.

We instantly fell in love with its charm, it’s gorgeous location, it’s delicious food, it’s metal sculptures, and yes, even it’s outhouse. :)

When we lived out in Portland, OR we were within walking distance of McMenamins – Edgefield, which is an amazing venue that includes a hostel, a few restaurants, a vineyard and a handful of bars. And Milkweed, on a much smaller scale, of course, sort of reminded us of that — with even better food and nicer people. Isaac and Havvah, the owners of Milkweed, are experts at service as well as creating a welcoming and relaxing environment, and an unbelievable spread of food — all locally-sourced, and much from their own gardens.

So, without further ado, this is Milkweed. Just try to imagine the sound of birds chirping, frogs and crickets, the smell of fresh air, and remarkably delicious, fresh-from-their-garden food.
